What to know

  • This mission is a photo objective, not a combat encounter
  • You must reach a specific swamp area inside Photo Cistern
  • Correct framing in Photo Mode is mandatory for completion
  • Access to Wuling and Straggler’s Grove is required

In Arknights Endfield, Photo Cistern Originium Sligs is one of those side missions that looks simple on paper but can easily trip you up if you rush it. The game doesn’t clearly explain what counts as a “valid” photo, and many players end up standing in the right place but failing the objective because the frame isn’t correct. This guide explains the entire process in a smooth, linear way so you can complete the mission cleanly and move on.

Understanding the Photo Cistern Originium Sligs objective

Unlike standard exploration or combat tasks, this mission is entirely about observation and positioning. You are not required to defeat the Originium Sligs or interact with them directly. The goal is to document their presence by taking a properly framed photo inside the Photo Cistern area.

The mission only progresses once the game recognizes that the subject, environment, and angle all meet its internal criteria. Simply seeing the creature is not enough.

Step 1: Reach the Photo Cistern area

Before anything else, make sure you have unlocked access to Wuling and Straggler’s Grove. Without these regions available, the mission cannot be completed. Once unlocked, travel toward the Photo Cistern and follow the mission marker until it leads you into the wetlands surrounding the cistern structure.

This area is visually distinct, with shallow water, thick fog, and uneven terrain, making navigation slower than usual.

Step 2: Follow the Originium Sligs

The Originium Sligs are found lingering near the waterlogged sections of the cistern area. They are passive for the purpose of this mission, so combat is unnecessary. Take a moment to observe their movement patterns and surroundings.

Positioning matters here. The game expects the subject to be clearly visible and contextualized within the Photo Cistern environment.

Step 4: Enter Photo Mode

Once the Originium Sligs are in view, activate Photo Mode. This pauses the action and allows you to freely adjust the camera. This step is mandatory—screenshots or standard camera views do not count.

At this stage, many players fail because they assume proximity is enough. It isn’t.

Step 5: Find the correct frame

This is the most important part of the mission. The Originium Sligs must be centered clearly in the frame, with enough of the surrounding cistern environment visible for the game to recognize the location.

If the subject is too far, partially obscured, or off-center, the mission will not update. Adjust zoom, angle, and camera height until the visual indicator confirms a valid shot.

Step 6: Take the photo

Once the frame is correct, take the photo inside Photo Mode. If done properly, the mission objective should update immediately. If nothing happens, adjust your angle slightly and try again—small framing changes often make the difference.

Step 7: Complete the mission and claim rewards

After the photo is accepted, the mission completes automatically. You can then return to claim your reward, which includes 54,000 Wuling Stock Bills. There are no follow-up combat requirements or additional objectives tied to this task.

What are Originium Sligs in Arknights Endfield and how to identfy them

Originium Sligs in Arknights: Endfield are small, slug-like lifeforms heavily mutated by Originium contamination. They’re among the most common wildlife enemies you’ll encounter while exploring ruins, caves, wetlands, and abandoned facilities across Talos-II. Despite looking harmless at first glance, they’re aggressive, swarm quickly, and can apply elemental or corrosion effects depending on the variant.

What they are

Sligs are essentially Originium-warped mollusks. The mineral’s influence has turned them into mobile hazard organisms that feed on energy, organic matter, and sometimes machinery. They often appear in areas with high Originium density, making them a natural warning sign that you’re entering a contaminated zone.

How to identify them

You can recognize Originium Sligs by:

  • Glowing crystal growths on their backs or bodies (blue, orange, or purple hues)
  • Low, crawling movement with sudden lunges when aggroed
  • Goo trails or wet, shiny ground where groups have passed
  • Cluster behavior — they rarely appear alone
  • Distinct sound cues — wet squelching and crackling crystal noises
  • Habitat — near water sources, damp ruins, or crystal deposits

Combat tip

They’re weak individually but dangerous in groups. Area damage, fire, or shock abilities clear them fast before they surround you.

Your key to Wuling Stock Bills farming

Photo Cistern Originium Sligs is a good example of how Arknights: Endfield encourages players to slow down and engage with the world differently. The mission isn’t difficult, but it demands attention to framing and environment rather than reflexes or firepower. Once you understand that the photo itself is the challenge, completing it becomes straightforward—and the Wuling Stock Bills make it well worth the effort.
