CID, stands for “Carrier IDentification” and it’s a little number that dictates which software can be installed on a phone. For example, on a carrier locked phone, the CID determines that only a modem or ROM specific to that carrier can be installed on that device. Now there i s way to bypass this, by changing the CID of your device to match with the firmware you want to install.
Changing the CID of your device is a simple process. It involves editing a text file which is a part of the PG58IMG.zip image file. Although simple, it is a risky process, and you better be extremely careful while doing it. Read on to find out how.
Compatibility
This guide below are compatible only and only with the HTC Sensation. It’s not compatible with any other device. Check your device model in Settings » About phone.

How to change CID on HTC Sensation
- Download NotePad++ from here, and install it on your PC.
- Download the PG58IMG.zip file for the firmware you want to flash, from the official development thread.
- Extract the file to your desktop.Open the extracted folder and look for a file called android-info.txt.
- Copy the file and paste it outside the folder. Now right click the file, and open it with Notepad++ that you installed in Step 1
- Add your cidnum that you want to the file or modelid. Use the ones already in there as an example.
- Make sure there are no spaces after your cidnum or modelid (So it shouldn’t be “cidnum: T-MOB010_” _ = space), and Save it.
- Double click the PG58IMG.zip again. Click android-info.txt and delete it in the archive (Don’t extract the archive)
- Drag and drop the new android-info.txt over PG58IMG.zip. That’s it, you have just created a custom firmware package, which can be easily flashed through CWM Recovery.
- Transfer the updated PG58IMG.zip file to the external SDcard on your phone, and flash it through recovery.
