What to know

  • Tips Exchange recycles unused Inner Way Tips into a spendable currency
  • Vintage Bookmarks are used to target more relevant Inner Way Tips
  • The system reduces randomness without removing it entirely
  • Inner Way Conversion is a separate, more limited mechanic

Inner Ways are one of the core progression systems in Where Winds Meet, shaping how your build performs as DPS, support, or tank. Tips Exchange exists to help you refine that progression instead of letting excess upgrade materials go to waste.

What Tips Exchange actually does in Where Winds Meet

Tips Exchange allows you to recycle Inner Way Tips you don’t plan to use and convert them into a universal currency called Vintage Bookplates. Those Bookplates are then spent on Recommendation Tomes, which reward new Tips aligned with specific weapon Paths or universal Inner Ways.

You are not directly choosing exact upgrades. Instead, you are narrowing the pool so future drops better match your intended build.

How the Tips Exchange process works

Step 1: Open the Inner Ways interface

Go to the Inner Ways menu and select the Tips Exchange option.

Step 2: Recycle unwanted Inner Way Tips

Select Tips tied to Inner Ways you are not focusing on. Each recycled Tip grants Vintage Bookplates, with higher-rarity Tips yielding more currency.

Step 3: Spend Vintage Bookplates on Recommendation Tomes

Use your accumulated Bookplates to purchase Recommendation Tomes tied to:

  • A specific weapon Path, or
  • Universal Inner Ways that work across builds

This is where you redirect progress toward what you actually play.

Step 4: Open Tomes and repeat the loop

Opening a Tome grants a random Tip within the selected category. You then recycle anything still irrelevant and repeat the cycle. While repetitive, this loop dramatically speeds up upgrades for your chosen Inner Ways.

How this helps real builds

In practice, the system rewards commitment. By identifying four or five Inner Ways you care about and recycling everything else, you funnel resources back into the same few Paths. Players often end up with more usable Tips overall, even though they are constantly recycling, because the loop feeds itself efficiently.

This approach is especially effective early and mid-progression, when random drops would otherwise spread your upgrades too thin.

Inner Way Conversion and how it differs

Inner Way Conversion is a separate mechanic and should not be confused with Tips Exchange.

Conversion lets you transfer accumulated Tip progress from one high-rarity Inner Way to another. It:

  • Only works on Purple and Gold Inner Ways
  • Has a limited number of free uses per season
  • Exists mainly to support late build changes

Tips Exchange converts materials into currency. Conversion moves progress directly. One is about efficiency; the other is about flexibility.

Practical tips for upgrades

  • Commit early to a small number of Inner Ways
  • Recycle aggressively outside that focus group
  • Use Recommendation Tomes instead of relying on raw drops
  • Save conversion uses for major build pivots, not minor tweaks
  • Expect repetition—the system rewards persistence

Tips Exchange ensures that experimenting or looting randomly never truly sets you back. Even discarded progress feeds future upgrades, letting you adapt your Inner Ways as your playstyle evolves without starting over.
