In Where Winds Meet, gear farming is directly tied to how much overall power you have. It isn't just about grinding a single dungeon endlessly, but cycling through a variety of different bosses, outposts, sword trials, season shops, and a few zero-energy farms. In this guide, we take you through each farm option, how to loop, and avoid wasting energy. Let's begin!

Main gear farming activities

Most gear and upgrade is split into rewards you get from bosses, open-world activities, challenges, etc. To get the best results, you should rotate through them, instead of spamming a single activity.

Energy is what is used to replay activities and earn gear. But it is not unlimited. So you can only use it for limited time each week. It's important then to use it well. The core farming activities to spend your energy on include:

Sword Trials

Sword Trials are ideal for weapon and gear farming. They provide Tier 51 Path Chests which "contains a random Tier 51 Rare or Epic piece from a specified set, and a Martial Tip (Path)."

You can hover over each Tier 51 Path Chest to see what you can get.

Continue with the Sword Trials to get the gear that you're after. The rewards you get from Sword Trials scale with level and difficulty.

Note: If you happen to get the Greaves (boots) - legging armor, you can target farm the Campaign Challenge (bosses) to get even better gear.

The best thing about Campaign Challenges is that it has fixed loot tables. So if you want a particular piece of gear, you can check out which campaign challenge rewards it and get to it straight away.

You can also get almost any weapon in the game from Campaign Challenges. So the pool is quite big.

Outposts

Outposts are ideal for levelling up Mystic Arts since they are a good source of Ebon Iron . Note that you won't see that you receive Ebon Iron from clearing Outposts from the Outpost Challenges page itself. However, if you go to the map, select the outpost, and scroll down to the Rewards section, you'll see 'Ebon Iron' as one of the rewards.

Ebon Iron is "used for upgrading and breakthrough of offensive type Mystic Skills', which makes it one of the most sought-after items in the game.

Apart from Ebon Iron, outposts also drop random gear which can range from low to very high value. It is a luck of the draw, so Outposts aren't ideal for target farming. But they're still great for levelling up Mystic Skills.

Joint battles may boost drop rates for gear and materials, but working with others can come with its own issues. You can do outposts on your own and still level up your gear fast.

Target Elite Mobs

When you target and eliminate elite mob camps on the map, you have a small chance of getting blue gear as well. However, this can be recycled to get the tuning stones you need to level up.

To find these elite mob camps, open your map, then go to the option that looks like a leaf.

Go to Mobs and select the three main types - Greenwood Elite, Aureate Pavilion Elite, and Buddha Fort Elite - so they're visible on your map.

You can now go around eliminating these mob camps to get some blue gear.

How the season shop fits in to gear farming

Each week, you can earn 20,000 Jade Fish and spend them on Gear Chest inside Season > Season Shop.

You can get 25 Gear Chests every week and get more gear to go along with the ones you farm using the main activities.

While these farming options are easy to go (relatively speaking), the best high-end equipment still comes through gameplay (dungeons, raids, etc.) You should push for heavy gear farming only when story progress starts to slow or bosses start taking too long to defeat. However, if you're going to farm, make sure to not stick to a single source and keep rotating between the different core activities.
