October is shaping up to be an extremely exciting month for smartphone lovers. Popular Android OEMs like LG, Huawei, Google and OnePlus are all expected to launch new flagship products during the period.

And this week we just got word that another notable player in the Android space has scheduled a press event for October. We’re talking about Nokia which, as confirmed by HMD Global, is all set to launch a new product on October 4. This is a day before LG will unveil the V40 ThinQ flagship in South Korea! Mind you, there’s also a Pixel 3 launch scheduled for October 9!

However, Nokia might not be looking to introduce a new premium smartphone. Word on the street has it that the company delayed the Nokia 9’s arrival to 2019.

To notch or not to notch?

Instead, we might see a new mid-range device with some interesting features on board. Since its comeback, Nokia has mostly focused on the mid-range market with very positive results.

So a big possibility is that HMD Global will unveil the often-leaked Nokia 7.1 Plus model, which might come with or without a notch, depending on which source you choose to believe.

One of the latest leaks shows a Nokia 7.1 Plus that’s very similar in design to the Nokia 6.1 Plus that launched this summer. The notch is present, but there’s no shiny ring around the fingerprint scanner anymore.
