Hideaway: Furnace of Righteousness Walkthrough - Where Winds Meet

In Where Winds Meet, Hideaway is part of the main quest 'Furnace of Righteousness' in Chapter 2 - Universal Furnace - in the Kaifeng region. Being a main story quest, it includes several other mini-quests that build upon each other until a dramatic climax with the God of Avarice, aka, Black God of Wealth. Without further ado, let's jump in.

Location and How to Start

Hideaway kicks off the Furnace of Righteousness main quest in Kaifeng City, Kaifeng.

To start, simply make your way to the location above and regroup with the three sisters.

Walkthrough

Step 1

Go to the location above and find the three sisters - Little Fu, Little Lu, and Little Shou.

Step 2

After a small cutscene, find Yingying who would be only a few meters away.

Step 3

Follow Yinying and evade government soldiers while heading to Haven.

Step 4

After meeting with the three sisters, the party is found out. Engage the soldiers and hold off Lord Shi.

Step 5

Yingying will come to your rescue.

While she fights Lord Shi, go to the safety place and meet with the three sisters again.

Little Lu will tell you how to get inside the Furnace, that is, by hiding in the Coin Cart.

Step 6

First, rally commoners to sing ballads.

Eavesdrop on the dialog nearby.

Step 7

Find the convoy. Once you get there, you'll be told to keep away from the Tang coin transport. This means you must find it stealthily, without being spotted. You can use the Veil of Stillness to make your way undetected.

Step 8

Board the wagon.

Once you're inside the Furnace, evade the soldiers and find an exit. Follow the markers and use stealth.

Step 9

When you come across the two soldiers, wait until one of them goes away. Then assassinate the other.

Continue evading the guards. You'll again come across two talking soldiers. As before, assassinate the guard that stays behind.

Step 10

Climb the Watchtower and observe.

Step 11

Find your way to Yingying to rescue her.

Step 12

Go inside the attic and eavesdrop.

Then drop down and defeat the guards and get the Barracks Map.

Step 13

Escape the camp. If you are detected, you'll have to face the wrath of the full camp.

Keep pressing forward.

Step 14

From your vantage point at the top of the tower, find a way to the dungeon.

You'll find the dungeon when scouting the leftmost mark.

Step 15

Make your way to the dungeon undetected. Keep to the roofs as much as possible.

Step 16

In the house that leads to the dungeon, use the stairs to go below. Eavesdrop on the soldiers there.

Once these soldiers leave, take out the two guards.

However, you won't be able to get to the dungeon without the key.

Step 17

Go up to find the key-holding guard.

You'll have to steal the key from him. Wait for the Strategy Officer and Deputy Captain to go upstairs.

Use the Celestial Seize on the guard to steal the key.

Return to the dungeon gate and open it with the key.

Step 18

Head down to the depths of the dungeon. Use the lift.

Step 19

Investigate the cells on the floor and talk to the inmates. You'll be able to enter one of the empty cells.

The gate will close behind you and Little Shou will appear outside. Once you're released after the conversation, track Yingying's Trail.

Wait for the three sisters to crawl underneath a gate and then open it for you.

Step 20

Give the three sisters a hand in pushing open a big door.

Step 21

Explore the chamber. Look at Little Lu. She'll be trying to read something.

The Burned Paper will give you a clue. It reads: "Xuanlin... Head Steward... slain... reward of one thousand strings."

Step 22

Try to find a way out, then talk to Little Lu.

Once the candle that Little Fu is standing close to is blow out, light it. Once it is blown out again, you'll see the trail of smoke escape through the gap in the door.

Step 23

Interact with the door. You will form a human ladder with the three sisters, but will ultimately fall, leading you to find the actual contraption - the vase.

While the sisters are reaching the vase, enter the hidden door.

Step 24

You will hear a voice asking for your help. Step on the mechanism on the floor to open the door.

Upon entering, you'll see Yingying chained on a post, but will soon faint, only to be rescued by the sisters.

Step 25

Examine the clothes on the money tree.

Step 26

Defeat the soldiers.

While searching for dungeon exit, you'll come across a dead guard with a coin next to him, which is Yingying's fight move, implying that she went through here.

Step 27

Follow the sisters and stand on the floor mechanism to use the lift.

Continue forward and push open the door.

Step 28

Fight and defeat Jin Huo.

Then regroup with the sisters on the bridge above.

Step 29

The three sisters will plan a diversion. Keep up with them and make sure to stay on higher places.

This will require a bit of traversal and platforming.

Step 30

Once three sisters (collectively Dao Lord) have created the diversion, enter the Furnace.

Step 31

Go down the furnace to catch up with Yuanbao.

Walk on the chains.

Step 32

You'll need to find a way up. But for that, you'll first need to go down using the ladder.

Then go forward and take the ladder up.

Keep going up the ramps.

Until you're placed close to the barrels going up. Then hop on them.

Step 33

At the top, jump off the barrel.

Then go right and climb up the ladder.

Go right and find Yuanbao on the bridge.

Step 34

You'll come across two guards on the right. Take them down.

Move forward and open the door to the Freight Elevator.

Step 35

While taking the elevator up, the guards will start firing at you. At the top, jump off.

Escape the corridor.

Take the bridge, jump on to the barrel, then on to the chains.

Keep running and following the jump marker to evade pursuit. You'll keep getting new things to jump upon.

Step 36

After the cutscene, you'll have to re-enter the Furnace from the Tower's Peak. So climb the tower.

At the top, activate the lever.

Step 37

You'll find yourself in a sea of gold coins. Look for the exit.

Take the lift to the floor below, then take the steps up.

Finally, open the door to get to the final stage of the quest.

Step 38

You'll come before the God of Avarice.

The fight unfolds in multiple phases.

After the first phase, his mask comes off and he becomes ruthless.

In the next phase, his health bar turns into Gold coins.

In the final phase, he'll take on a larger form.

Use ranged attacks.

Once he's defeated, a long cutscene will issue, at the end of which this part of the main chapter will be completed.

To finish Furnace of Righteousness fully, you'll need to complete a small quest called 'A Shift in the Winds', which is mostly, if not all, cutscenes, and involves meeting with Big Zhao.

Rewards

The rewards for Hideaway: Furnace of Righteousness are as follows:

However, throughout the quest, you'll gain rewards much larger than these. So keep an eye out for chests and loot.
