Chinese OEMs Oppo, Vivo and Meizu may power their high end devices soon with the MediaTek Helio P30 processor if the rumors circulating the web are to be believed. Details on this upcoming chipset are still scant so we’ll have to rely on a fair bit of speculation for now. The current generation MediaTek Helio P25 is an excellent processor and has been implemented in various high end devices.
From currently spawning rumors, the Helio P30 may be based on the 12nm TSMC manufacturing process. This may not provide the performance increments as found on 10nm based processors like the Snapdragon 835 and so on. Nevertheless, it is a commendable upgrade over the 16nm based Helio P25.
Oppo and Vivo intend to make good use of this processor in most of their upcoming mid range and high end line up. Though the former has recently integrated the new Snapdragon 660 into the R11, the OEM has had a good history with the Taiwanese Semiconductor firm. Vivo and Meizu too have had similar records with MediaTek.

The Helio P30 chipset could be launched by early 2018, but that’s just our guess based on the fact that the P25 was released in February this year. Perhaps we’ll get to know more soon, as this is one of the high end SoCs from MediaTek which stays a tier below the Helio X series.
