Right now, if you’re planning to survive the Amazon rainforest with friends in Green Hell, platform choice matters more than anything else. While the game supports co-op multiplayer, it does not allow players on different platforms to connect with each other.
Crossplay status in Green Hell explained
Crossplay means players using different systems—like PC and console—can join the same multiplayer session. Green Hell does not offer this feature. If you’re on PC, you can only play with other PC players. The same rule applies to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Even though the game is available across many platforms, each version operates within its own closed multiplayer environment. There’s no way to invite or join friends who are playing on a different system.

How multiplayer works if you are on the same platform
If you and your friends all own Green Hell on the same platform, multiplayer works smoothly. You can host or join co-op sessions and explore the jungle together in survival or story modes. Sessions support up to four players, making teamwork essential for crafting, combat, and staying alive.
Performance and features can vary slightly between platforms, but the core co-op experience remains the same as long as everyone is playing on the same system.
Cross-generation play within console families
While full crossplay isn’t available, Green Hell may allow cross-generation multiplayer within the same console ecosystem. For example, PlayStation 4 players can usually play with PlayStation 5 players, and Xbox One players can often join Xbox Series X|S users.
This isn’t guaranteed in every scenario, but it’s currently the closest alternative to crossplay the game offers.
Cross-save and progression limitations
Your save data does not transfer between platforms. If you start playing on PC and later switch to console, you’ll need to begin a new save. Character progress, unlocked blueprints, and survival stats remain tied to the platform where they were created.
This also applies if you move between console families or from non-VR to VR versions.

What about Green Hell VR?
Green Hell VR editions are completely separate from the standard game. VR players cannot join multiplayer sessions with non-VR players, and VR versions do not support crossplay between different VR platforms either. Treat the VR experience as its own standalone version.
Will Green Hell get crossplay in the future?
As of now, there’s no official confirmation of crossplay being added. While community interest remains high, implementing cross-platform multiplayer in a survival game with multiple versions and performance differences is complex. Any future update would likely be announced well in advance.
