A few days back, we heard that the Nest Cam will be launched soon. Now, the device is official and it is available via Google Store and Amazon for a price of $199. The device is listed with an estimated shipment date as today.
The Nest Cam can be bought from the official Nest website as well. Google claims that its new Wi-Fi camera is available only in the U.S. and Canadian markets for now. There is no word regarding the global availability of this device.
The Nest Cam is almost the successor of the Dropcam that was acquired by Google or Nest in 2014. The latest offering can capture Full HD 1080p or HD 720p videos and connect to both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands.
The device connects to the updated Nest application that will help in monitoring your home from anywhere. However, you need to pay for the Nest Aware subscription service. You will get a 10 day online video history for $100 and 30 days of history for $300.
The Nest Cam will arrive with an adjustable stand and features a wall mounting plate. There is no battery in the device, and so it might require to be charged all the time.
