What to know:

  • Google has launched Vids, an AI-powered video creation tool integrated into Google Workspace.
  • The tool allows teams to create professional videos without requiring video editing skills.
  • Available for select Workspace tiers including Business Standard, Enterprise, and Education Plus customers.

Google has officially rolled out its newest Workspace application, Google Vids, marking a significant addition to its suite of productivity tools that includes Gmail, Docs, and Slides. This AI-powered video creation tool is designed to revolutionize how teams create and collaborate on video content within their work environment.

According to Aparna Pappu, Vice President and General Manager at Google Workspace, the tool serves as an “all-in-one video editing, writing, and production assistant”. The platform leverages Google’s Gemini AI to generate storyboards from user prompts and existing Google Drive content, automatically suggesting stock videos, images, and background music to create compelling videos.

Key features of Google Vids include real-time browser-based collaboration, AI-powered voiceovers, and a teleprompter for recording. Users can create various types of content, from product pitches and training videos to team celebrations and company-wide announcements. The tool offers templates and a “help me create” feature that simplifies the video creation process for users without technical expertise.

The rollout is currently underway for Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Education Plus, and customers with Gemini Business or Enterprise add-ons. Notably, all AI-powered features will be free until December 31, 2025.

Transform your workplace communications with AI-powered video creation at your fingertips.
