A few days back, it was reported that Google is planning to introduce the new Chromebook Pixel for 2017, alongside the new Pixel smartphones. If launched, it would be a much-needed upgrade to the two-years old Chromebook Pixel 2 from 2015. Now, adding to the existing reports, the new Chromebook Pixel has been spotted on the GFXBench website, which reveals the key specs of the device.
As you may or may not know, GFXBench is a great source of information as most of the upcoming devices get benchmarked here. On the same lines, we have now spotted the new Chromebook Pixel (codename: Soroka). The benchmark listing tells us that the device will be powered by the 7th Generation Intel® Core™ m3-7Y30 CPU. This is a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.6GHz.
In terms of the GPU, we are looking at the integrated graphics unit i.e. the Kaby Lake GT2. The GFXBench listing shows two different variants with varying RAM + storage configurations. It appears that the base variant will sport 4GB RAM & 32GB internal storage, whereas, the other variant will sport 8GB RAM & 64GB of internal storage.
Coming to the optics, we are looking at a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, whereas on the front, it looks like there will be a 5-megapixel camera. The device is listed to be running on Android 7.1.1.
Oddly enough, the benchmark listing shows three different display sizes, whereas other details tell us that only two variants will be released. With that said, we suggest you wait for more info on this, as we hope to learn more as we get closer to the launch date. Speaking of GFXBench listing, earlier today, a new Nubia smartphone was also spotted on the GFXBench, that also reveals some interesting key specs.
