  • Google’s NotebookLM now includes a 'Discover sources' feature to find relevant web sources automatically.
  • The feature uses AI to curate up to 10 annotated source recommendations for users.
  • It is available to all NotebookLM users, both free and paid, starting this week.
  • This marks the first in a series of AI-powered features leveraging Google’s Gemini technology.

Google has introduced a new feature called 'Discover sources' in its AI-powered NotebookLM tool. This feature automates the process of finding relevant web sources for your projects, saving you the effort of manually searching for information. By simply describing your topic of interest, NotebookLM will curate up to 10 source recommendations, each accompanied by an annotated summary explaining its relevance.

Users can select the sources they find useful and integrate them into their NotebookLM projects. These sources can then be used for creating briefing documents, FAQs, or even for note-taking and citation purposes. The feature also allows users to interact with an AI chatbot to discuss the suggested sources further.

In addition to 'Discover sources,' NotebookLM now includes an 'I’m feeling curious' button, which generates sources on random topics. This provides a quick way to explore the tool’s capabilities. Google has stated that this is the first of several planned features that will utilize its Gemini AI technology to enhance the NotebookLM experience.

The 'Discover sources' feature is rolling out to all NotebookLM users, regardless of whether they are on the free or paid tier. The rollout is expected to be completed within a week.
