The LG Nexus 4 launch, despite being one of the most awaited events of the year, was handled pretty shabbily, with the device going out of stock on Google Play minutes after it landed on launch day. Can’t blame the folks who were trying to get one, but LG & Google should have anticipated all this frenzy and made sure that there were enough stocks available.
With the second batch of Nexus 4 phones starting to ship this week, Google seems to have gotten smarter with how Google Play orders can be regulated, and has imposed a limit on the number of units once can order per account. Our pals over at Phandroid discovered that one could not order more than two units from Google Play. Smart play that from Google, considering someone could just order a bunch, and then put them up for sale on eBay or Craig’s List for atrociously high prices when the Play Store stocks run out.
If you’ve already purchased two, you are likely to see exactly what’s in the screenshot above. Though, it does look like ordering a different variant from the one you ordered earlier, is fine. There is no indication yet, on how long maxed out users would have to cool their heels, but given the demand for this awesome device at that awesome price, we think it’s going to be quite a while before the limits are off.
