Google has upgraded Gemini's Deep Research AI assistant to directly connect with users' Gmail inboxes, Google Drive files, and Google Chat messages.
This enhancement allows the AI to pull context-rich information from emails, documents (including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and PDFs), and chat logs for in-depth research reports tailored to individual or team needs.

You can access this feature through the "Deep Research" option in Gemini’s Tools menu on desktop. After selecting it, choose which sources Deep Research can pull data from:
- Search
- Gmail
- Google Drive
- Chat
This source selection gives precise control over which datasets the AI uses for research.
Previously, Deep Research could only analyze uploaded files or scan the web, but now it expands its scope by integrating users’ Workspace content with online data sources. This capability enables more powerful use cases such as market or product analysis, competitor research, and detailed project summaries that blend internal information with public research effortlessly.
