How to complete the Undying Samurai Mythic Tale
Speak with Ugetsu, the storyteller, at his camp north of Nakagoya Spring in the Ishikari Plain. You’ll hear the tale of the Undying Samurai and begin your Mythic Tale quest for his legendary armor.
Phase 1: Talk to the storyteller
Step 1
Go to Ishikari Plain, north of Nakagoya Spring near the Masked Man Quarry, to a campsite known as Storyteller’s Rest.
Step 2
You’ll find the storyteller (Ugetsu). Talk to him and listen to his tale of the Undying Samurai. This triggers the objective to find the wind chimes.
Phase II: Finding all 4 Wind Chimes
To find the Undying Samurai, you need to locate four wind chimes.
Step 3
Use the wind guidance mechanic (swipe up on the touchpad) for general direction. Here’s where you’ll find them:

Phase III: Use the chimes to find the cave
With all four chimes in your possession, hold any one of them to sense wind direction and chime sound. The ring and blue cloth motion will guide you.

Travel toward the coastal cliffs west of Rumoi River / northwest Ishikari Plain — where the chimes lead.
Step 5
Look for a tree stump or grapple point on a cliff edge. Use your grappling hook to descend.
Step 6
Continue down the ledges and drop toward the sea side.
Step 7
Slide through a narrow opening or path into a coastal cave.
Step 8
Follow the lit torches inside the cave, navigate the cave path.
Step 9
Reach a cave where you have to crawl through further.
Step 10
Reach a bay-like area with clothes hanging.
Phase IV: Place the wind chimes on the posts
Step 11
At the end chamber (inside the cave, near water), you’ll find four wooden posts. Place each of your four wind chimes onto those posts, one by one.
Step 12
Once all are placed, a cutscene triggers, summoning the Undying Samurai for the duel.
Phase V: Duel and defeat the Undying Samurai
After the cutscene, the boss fight begins. Be ready to parry and dodge his katana strikes (and any flaming aura it might gain). When you successfully stagger his posture, go in with heavy combos or charged attacks.
Manage your stamina, keep distance as needed, and use healing items during openings. There may be a second phase — stay alert and conserve resources.
Defeat him to win the duel.
Undying Samurai Mythic Tale rewards
