The Road to Ishikari Plain location
You can find the entrance to Ishikari Plain at the northern edge of the Yotei Grasslands, specifically in the Golden Foothills. The mission marker appears at the furthest northwestern point of the Yotei Grasslands, near a large Matsumae Clan checkpoint gate. This main gate separates the grasslands from Ishikari Plain, marking the start of the “Road to Ishikari Plain” quest.

How to get a gate pass
Step 1
Talk to the beggar at the samurai camp. He’s usually with a dog and sitting near the entrance. Give the beggar 10 coins.
Step 2
The guards here will stop you, requesting a travel permit to proceed.
Step 3
The beggar calls you back and gives you the travel permit needed to pass the Ishikari Gate.
Step 4
Show your travel permit to the guards at the gate, and they’ll let you into the Ishikari Plains to begin the full quest.
Traveling with Lord Kitamori and facing ambush
Step 5
Once inside, Lord Kitamori guides you through the pass. A cutscene soon triggers as Oni Raiders attack.
Step 6
Fight off the Oni Raiders alongside Lord Kitamori. Use your strongest combos and the environment to prevail.
Step 7
After the fight, mount your horse and follow Kitamori up the road. Look for signs like dead horses to investigate.
Investigating clues regarding missing soldiers
Step 8
Examine the dead horse and check for footprints near the road’s edge; select the prompt to continue the investigation.
Step 9
Follow the trail uphill. Use ledges and your climbing skills to reach the intended cutscene location.
Dealing with Oni Raider camps
Step 10
Scout the Oni Raider camp ahead. You’ll need to defeat all enemies
Step 11
As Lord Kitamori buries the dead soldiers find food around the camp.
Step 12
Set a fire up and cook the fish.
Step 13
A cutscene triggers after this, where Lord Kitamori asks Atsu about her sword. We find out that Lord Kitamori is Jubei, Atsu's twin brother.
Defeating the Oni Raider ambusher and reaching Matsumae Encampment
Step 14
On the outskirts of Ishikari Plain, a last ambush awaits. Defeat the raiders.
Step 15
Enter the Matsumae encampment with Kitamori where cut scene triggers for him to report back to commander Wada.
Step 16
An officer calls you to cut bamboo. The bamboo strike is made into a wager of getting the officer's helmet.
Step 17
After the cutscene with commander Wada, Atsu decides to leave the Matsumae encampment. This opens Ishikari plains and marks the end of the quest.
