Smiling Yoshitomo is one of the first bounties you’ll come across in Ghost of Yotei, making it a good introduction to how bounties work.

Where to pick up the Smiling Yoshitomo bounty

The bounty becomes available at the Bounty Board in the Yōtei Shadow Inn, also called the Old Inn, located in the Yōtei Grasslands. Accepting it adds a map marker showing the general area of the target’s last known location.

How to find Smiling Yoshitomo

Step 1

Open your map after accepting the bounty; the marker points near Tranquil Falls.

Step 2

Head north from Tranquil Falls until you arrive at Weary Traveler’s Camp.

Step 3

Look for the small camp positioned just below and to the right of a waterfall north of the falls. Pay attention to environmental clues like sake left invitingly as a lure or trap.

Step 4

At the center of the camp, build a fire to initiate the cutscene.

The encounter with Smiling Yoshitomo

After building a campfire at Weary Traveler’s Camp, a white-robed settler will appear. After a brief dialogue, he reveals himself as Smiling Yoshitomo and attacks, which will begin the fight.

Smiling Yoshitomo doesn’t come with large reinforcements, making the duel manageable. He relies on quick strikes, so parries and dodges are especially effective. Once he is defeated, loot his body to secure the bounty proof.

After looting Yoshitomo, return to the Yōtei Shadow Inn and interact with the Bounty Board again to report the completion.

This final step ensures you claim the rewards, which is 750 coins. You also receive the Smiling Kabuto-Mushi - a unique cosmetic sword skin unlocked after killing Smiling Yoshimoto.
