Ghost of Yotei All Nine Tails Puzzle Box Locations and Solutions

Ghost of Yōtei hides a collection of 12 Nine Tails Puzzle Boxes, also known as the Kitsune Puzzle Boxes, all within the Teshio Ridge (snowy northern) region. Each box is collected from a location and then solved via sliding panels in your inventory. Solving them all rewards the Trickster Fox trophy.

Where to find every Nine Tails Puzzle Box

All 12 are in Teshio Ridge. Some are at Kitsune Altars, some in Yōtei Six Camps (including hidden hideouts), and one is found on a body. Here's a quick look at them all:

4	Sarobetsu Forest (Kitsune Altar)	At the altar directly above “su” in “Sarobetsu” on the map.
5	Teshio Coast (Kitsune Altar)	At the Kitsune Altar in Teshio Coast, visible in front of the altar.
6	Crossroads Trading Post (Yōtei Six Camp)	At the front of the Altar of Reflection after clearing the camp.
7	Snow Drift Springs Hideout (hidden Yōtei Six Camp)	Access via Snow Drift Springs Shrine in Crimson Forest. Solve a torch/fox-statue puzzle to open the door, then clear the camp and finish another fox statue puzzle inside.
8	Snow’s Blight Hideout (hidden Yōtei Six Camp)	Approach via Snow’s Blight Shrine in NW Teshio Ridge. Light correct lanterns, solve fox statue puzzles, carry statues, clear the camp, then reach the altar.
9	Nakajima Ice Cave Hideout (hidden Yōtei Six Camp)	Enter via Nakajima Ice Cave (NW of Sarobetsu Lake). At entrance turn two fox statues appropriately to open a crawlspace, climb rope, traverse multiple segments, clear the camp, then at the back-right corner perform a final statue rope puzzle to get up to the altar.
10	Deserted Village (Yōtei Six Camp)	Clear the enemies in the camp; after that, the box is at the Altar of Reflection.
11	Sōya Port (Yōtei Six Camp)	Rescue a prisoner (marked red) inside the camp, then eliminate all enemies, after which the box appears at the altar.
12	Cape Inari Hideout (hidden Yōtei Six Camp)	Access via Cape Inari Shrine (northern edge). Light two fox lanterns with “trident” icons in adjacent caves, which opens a hidden path. Climb rockholds, clear the camp, solve fox lantern / bridge puzzles to reach the altar.

Devious Box (Snow’s Blight Hideout)

Slide the top-left black stripe left.
Slide the top-right black stripe right.
Slide both middle stripes down on front (they will get stuck).
Slide the bottom-left black stripe left.
Slide the bottom-right black stripe right.
Slide both middle stripes down again (they get stuck again).
Slide the top panel down.

Challenging Box (Nakajima Ice Cave Hideout)

Slide the black stripe left on front.
Slide the black stripe left on right side and slide the middle stripe down (it gets stuck).
Slide the bottom stripe down on front (bottom half of vertical stripe).
Slide the black stripe on right from left to right until it touches the middle stripe.
Slide the black stripe right on front.
Slide the black stripe right and middle stripe down on left side.
Slide the top panel down.

Reward: 8 Shinobi Steel

Surprising Box (Deserted Village)

Slide the front panel down.
Slide the black stripe right on front.
Slide the front panel up (it will get stuck).
Slide the black stripe right again (now slides further).
Slide the front panel down (slides further).
Slide the top panel down.

Elaborate Box (Soya Port)

Slide the top-left black stripe left on front.
Slide the left vertical black stripe down on front (it gets stuck).
Slide the top-left stripe right (back to start).
Slide the bottom-left stripe left on front and left vertical stripe down (stuck again).
Slide the bottom-left stripe right (back to start).
Slide the top-left stripe left and left vertical stripe down (cannot go further).
Slide the right vertical stripe down on front; both vertical stripes should be down equally.
Slide the top panel down.
