Fans familiar with Ghost of Tsushima know that that game eventually added a New Game Plus (NG+) mode post-launch. Understandably, one wonders if its spiritual successor would do the same. Here's everything you need to know about the New Game Plus in Ghost of Yotei - and what your options look like after finishing the story.

What happens after you beat the game

Once the final boss is defeated, the game rewinds the timeline by six months. You retain your current gear, progress, and abilities, and are placed back into Ezo where you can pursue remaining side quests, collectibles, and unfinished missions. This setup lets you clean up loose ends without resetting your character or starting from scratch.

Why there is no New Game Plus at launch

The absence of NG+ seems intentional: current design focuses on giving players freedom to revisit content, not pushing them into a full replay cycle. Also, no statement from the developer confirms a future NG+ mode, at least yet.

What to do if wanting a replay experience now

  • Start a new save file to replay from scratch.
  • Use higher difficulty modes available at launch for a fresh challenge.
  • Engage deeply with side content and new Photo Mode features during the post-story open world period.

This setup keeps the world accessible and engaging even without an NG+ option at present, although many players hope such a mode will be introduced later.

Could New Game Plus be added later

Although nothing is announced yet, there is precedent for adding NG+ post-launch in similar games. The developer has confirmed a multiplayer expansion (“Legends”) coming in 2026. If there’s strong community demand, NG+ might be considered in a future update.
