The shiny new Xperia Z3 hasn’t reached stores yet, and there’s still a bit of time before you can get your hands on it. But has that ever stopped developers from giving you the goodies from a device beforehand? Take for instance, this port from senior XDA member vipuldj, which has made the keyboard from the Xperia Z3 available for most Android devices out there.
The keyboard, obviously, has built-in support for all the KitKat emojis as well as swipe input. The keyboard acts and looks its part too, with three different visual styles to choose from. Now coming back to the port, since it’s a mod, you will need a working recovery on your device to install it. So let’s not get ahead of ourselves and just take a look at what is needed.
Requirements
- Your device should obviously be rooted with a custom recovery installed (any one from CWM, TWRP, etc. will do)
- A Deodexed ROM is recommended.
- You must be on Android 4.0 ICS or higher.
- Your device should have 20mB of free system memory (you must already be having that unless you have a pretty hefty ROM and many installed MODs)
The port can be installed just like any other installable ZIP by booting up in your recovery and then browsing to the installable ZIP file on your Internal memory/SD card. But do remember to clear your Dalvik Cache before and after the installation. After the installation is complete, boot up your device normally and set Xperia keyboard as your default keyboard under Settings -> Language and Input Settings.
So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and try it out for yourself! We have attached the direct links to the installable ZIPs with a link to the original thread as well.
