In a recent update, Google added new and advanced Gemini capabilities to its Translate app and Search, as well as a beta live translation feature, and more language to Practice. The main update is focused on delivering better translation of the local vernacular, improving "phrases with more nuanced meanings like idioms, local expressions and slang."

The update is rolling out in the U.S. and India, with translations available between English and nearly 20 other languages, such as Spanish, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, and German, in the Translate app for Android and iOS and on the web.
