Update: The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge seems to bring a handful of changes with the latest Nougat beta 4 release (PLH build). Below is a quick rundown of the changes made:
- New Dialer UI: The phone Dialer app now seems to change background color to match to the color of wallpaper set on the device. The dialer app does this only when you’re making/receiving a call.
- Single column People Edge: The People Edge slide-in from the Edge screen is now single column on Nougat Beta 4 update.
- Color Balance option: There is also a new Color balance option under Display mode settings on Nougat beta 4 update for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
- New UI Animations: There are new UI animations on the Nougat beta 4 when you switch back & forth between screens. Check out the video below to see the new animations in action.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are now receiving a new beta update to Nougat with build number G9350ZCU2ZPLD in China, and G935FXXU1ZPLH build in Europe. The PLD/PLH update comes with 14th December build date, shown under the Android SE menu, while the PL3 update came with 6th December build date.
The update uninstalls the Samsung Notes app, brings fixes for bugs and improves system stability. It’s also reported that the dialer app is seeing a few UI changes, as well as addition of color balance in Display menu under settings.
The PLD/PLH update is a 4th Samsung Nougat beta update, and should also bring performance and stability improvements. As expected, it runs on Samsung Experience 8, a rename of TouchWiz interface.
The latest S7 Nougat beta OTA is already rolling out for the SKT telecom in Korea, and European users who we rolled in under the beta registration program.
Samsung has also stopped accepting registrations for beta testing Nougat now, indicating that the official launch is getting closer. The Nougat update is now being tested under carriers in Australia and other countries. The official roll out should see Samsung releasing Android 7.1.1 for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge.
In other news, the Nexus 9 is receiving the Android 7.1.1 update from T-Mobile and the OnePlus 3T is also in line to receive a stable update to Nougat soon. Chinese OEM Xiaomi has confirmed plans of upgrading this years lineup to Nougat.
