Lots of talks have happened recently about the release date and specs of Samsung’s upcoming flagship device, Galaxy S II. On the brighter side, it’s been said that the device will indeed launch with 1.2 GHz dual core processors but on the not-so-welcome side, the release dates everywhere on earth were pushed to June or it earlier part. But here we are, Samsung finally opened its mouth and have issued a press release making it public that the S2 will be launching in UK on May 1 — which isn’t far, and makes up for the dip in excitement resulting from the delay.
Samsung looks set to follow the same marketing and distribution policies it used for very popular and best seller device, the Galaxy S — the S2’s predecessor — meaning S2 will be released gradually world over. Asian and non-UK European markets can hope for June release, if not before that.
UK version is sure to come powered with company’s own Exynos processor instead of nVidia’s dual core chips, that are used in Motorola’s Atrix 4G and LG’s Optimus 2X. Other noticeable features of the Galaxy S 2 are 8.49 mm thin body, 4.3 inch Super AMOLED gorilla glass display, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), etc and it weighs just 116 grams.
For sure, we’re pretty much excited about the phone and it remains our best buy here in India because other dual-core phones — Atrix and Optimus 2X — look pretty shy of making a trip to India (and other Asian countries). Once we get it, you’ll get every bit of it, that’s for definite.
