Samsung has added another device to its Android-based portable media player lineup in South Korea, in the form of the Galaxy Player 4.2, which was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year. For other countries, the device will be going up on pre-order from May 13.
Available in both 8 GB and 16 GB variants, the Galaxy Player 4.2 includes a single-core 1 GHz processor, a 4.2″ WVGA TFT IPS LCD display, 2 megapixel main and a VGA front camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, a microSD slot that supports microSD cards of up to 32 GB, FM radio, stereo speakers, and a 1500 mAh battery. The OS is the now outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and comes preloaded with e-learning content, AllShare and SoundAlive audio enhancement technology. Samsung has also thrown in two games — FIFA 2012 and NFS: Hot Pursuit — into the mix.
As for the pricing, the 8 GB model costs 269,000 won (~$240 USD) while the 16 GB model will cost 299,000 won (~$265 USD).
