Well, that didn’t take too long now, did it? But then, that’s the advantage of having a Nexus device, you’ll never have to wait too long for the shiny new Android OS updates from Google- Nexus devices get all the love here.

Just a couple of days after Google pushed out the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware update to the international GSM Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S, it is now the turn of the ‘takju’ version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. For those who are wondering what the ‘takju’ version is, it is simply the GSM Galaxy Nexus that was sold through the Google Play Store. Google seems to be updating all its Nexus babies well in time before Android 4.2 makes its appearance.

Google Play Galaxy Nexus users have reported that the Android 4.1.2 OTA update is now live and is being pushed to devices. In case you have a takju GNex, you should check your notifications for the OTA update, or can go to Settings > About Phone and check for the update manually. Keep in mind though that your device needs to be running the last stock update version JRO03C, for this update to work, as it is an incremental update which installs on top of the previous version.

The update should cover all eligible devices over the next few days, but in case you are the impatient type, you can always check out this XDA thread and manually upgrade your device with the stock image. Keep in mind though, that manual updation involves some not-so-straightforward steps along with some risk, if you don’t know exactly what you are doing.

For the non-Nexus user world, I guess it’s a question of waiting and wondering what it is like to have the latest and greatest updates before everybody else .
