The Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 variant is finally receiving a nice big software update, and this time, it’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Yes, you read that right. The mid-ranger from last year is skipping the Android 7.0 Nougat version and jumping directly to version 7.1.1.

Samsung released the J5 2016 with Android 6.0.1 on board, so this is a pretty big update. The build number for the Nougat update is J510FNXXU2BQJ8 and it is currently being delivered over the air. If you own a J5 2016, then you shall soon start receiving the update.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat brings several new features and improvements to the table. You get better notifications, battery optimizations, split-screen multitasking, and much more. Improvements to TouchWiz will also be available.

To jog your memory, the Galaxy J5 2016 comes with a 5.2-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, and a 3100 mAh battery. If you’ve got one of these, but haven’t received the update, then do not worry, as it may take a few days. You can manually check for the update too, by heading to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.
