Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 is receiving a new update that installs the latest Android 8.0 Oreo as software version A810SKSU2CRG3. The Galaxy A8 is Sammy’s only 2016 smartphone other than the Galaxy S7 to receive the Oreo update and so far, the OS is rolling out over the air.
It didn’t take Samsung long to follow up the Galaxy A8 2018 Oreo update with a similar release for its 2016 counterpart. However, the Oreo update for the latter device is currently confirmed for the Korean variant of the device on SK Telecom.

While it’s not strange that the Galaxy A8 2016 Oreo update has started out in Korea, what remains unclear is when the same update will arrive on units outside the country. For those receiving the current build CRG3, you also get a new security update for the month of June 2018. For what is worth, you can as well try nagging the software update button in your settings menu and maybe you might be the lucky one.
The Galaxy A8 Oreo update comes at about the same time as the Oreo update for unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 units in the U.S., where both devices will be left with Samsung Experience 9.0 running on top of Oreo after the update.
