The Samsung Galaxy A5 is getting ready to make an entrance into Canada soon, as we just spotted a Samsung handset with model no. SM-A520W clear its way at WiFi Alliance. A520 is Galaxy A5 for 2017, while W (often W8) denotes codename for Canada.

The Galaxy A5 sports decent hardware, with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built- in storage, a 5.2-inch 1080p display, and a decent enough 3000mAh battery pack to power it all. All of this runs on the Exynos 7880 octa-core chipset clocked in at 1.9GHz. The A5 along with the A7 are also getting their front cameras upgraded to 16MP.

While the A series leans mores towards the aesthetic side of things, borrowing on design aspects from the flagships, the C series brings performance to focus. Samsung also has Galaxy C7 Pro up for release in China this month, on January 21 probably. That being said, the C series smartphones carry their own flair and are in no way unattractive, either.

The Galaxy A5 will be shipping with Marshmallow, but the device should expect an upgrade to Nougat soon, as we’ve already entered 2017 now. Though the A5 got its pass into Canada, it’s yet to be known if it’s siblings the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A7 will be heading there any time soon.
