The move by HMD Global to endow Nokia Android devices with Carl-Zeiss optics hints at the growing importance of camera onboard smartphones. Giving consumers another reason to go for Nokia devices, HMD Global has inked an exclusive partnership with Zeiss thus making possible for future Nokia phones to boast of Zeiss camera lens.
The news comes at a time when the company is gearing up to release its flagship phone Nokia 9. This gives us hope that the rumored 13MP rear dual camera set-up on Nokia 9 will be decorated by Zeiss optics.

In a press statement, HMD Global announced that ‘the partnership will see ZEISS and HMD Global co-develop standard-defining imaging capabilities and will bring the ZEISS brand back to Nokia smartphones’. It further mentioned that ‘the past collaboration saw ZEISS and Nokia phones driving technology innovations such as the world’s first multi-megapixel mobile phone’.
