Unlock The River's Fury as you progress in Kaifeng's storyline, tackling puzzles and combat to reach the A'yu encounter. You'll explore Eternal Solitude Hall and underground areas filled with mechanisms, snakes, and water challenges before facing the river spirit.

Location

Start at Fallen Invader's Mound near Eternal Solitude Hall Boundary Stone in Kaifeng, then descend into underground chambers with altars, water dragonheads, and levers. The final arena holds the altar with the Nuo Dance Mask, surrounded by the bound creature in a river spirit domain.

How to free A'yu

Follow these steps from the Wayfarer talk through puzzles.

Step 1

Speak to the eccentric Elder at Eternal Solitude Hall after the cutscene; use Wind Sense for anomalies and deliver items.​

Step 2

Bow to the altar to open the underground path; read clues and unlock Boundary Stones.​

Step 3

Step on slabs to activate water dragonheads; use Tai Chi to redirect water to contraptions, avoiding red plants and snakes.​

Step 4

Repair mechanisms with Luoshu Fragments and statues; drain/fill water levels to progress floors, grabbing chests along the way.​

Step 5

Reach Hero’s Tomb, pull levers, and use Cloud Steps; activate final puzzles to trigger the gigantic fish cutscene.​ This caps the quest in the arena.

Step 6

Clear initial threats; lock-on and scan for the Nuo Dance Mask on the altar amid visual effects.​

Step 7

Approach the mask closely until the interaction prompt appears; pick it up to break A'yu's captivity.​

Step 8

Shift to aggressive attacks on the now-vulnerable creature using normal combos and martial arts.​

Step 9

Dodge patterns, manage stamina, and sustain pressure—avoid over-retreating to prevent de-sync.​

Step 10

Continue until the creature collapses; a cutscene confirms A'yu is freed.​

Step 11

Enter the Final Burial Chamber for the chest, salute the altar, and end the quest.
