What to know
- Epic Games will reduce the number of V-Bucks included in purchase bundles starting March 19.
- Several Fortnite passes are getting cheaper in V-Bucks but offer fewer rewards.
- Fortnite Crew monthly V-Bucks rewards will drop from 1,000 to 800.
- Epic says rising operating costs are one reason behind the changes.
Epic Games has confirmed major changes to Fortnite’s in-game currency system, affecting how many V-Bucks you receive for real-money purchases. The update is scheduled to take effect on March 19, 2026, and will reduce the amount of V-Bucks included in most purchase bundles. While the dollar price of bundles remains the same, players will receive fewer V-Bucks per purchase, effectively increasing the cost of the currency.
Under the new system, Epic is adjusting the value of all major V-Bucks packs. The changes mean that the same amount of money now grants fewer V-Bucks than before.
| Bundle Price | Previous V-Bucks | New V-Bucks |
|---|---|---|
| $8.99 pack | 1,000 | 800 |
| $22.99 pack | 2,800 | 2,400 |
| $36.99 pack | 5,000 | 4,500 |
| $89.99 pack | 13,500 | 12,500 |
This shift effectively raises the real-world cost of V-Bucks across all tiers. Epic said the adjustment reflects increased costs of operating and supporting Fortnite over time.
The changes also affect several passes inside Fortnite. The standard Battle Pass will drop in price from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. However, it will also reward only 800 V-Bucks upon completion, removing the extra 500 V-Bucks previously available in bonus rewards. The Battle Bundle, which includes the Battle Pass and 25 instant levels, will also drop slightly from 2,800 to 2,600 V-Bucks.

Other passes are being adjusted as well. The OG Pass will now cost 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000. The Music Pass and LEGO Pass will each drop from 1,400 to 1,200 V-Bucks. These changes reduce the upfront cost of passes, but they also align with the broader shift toward lowering overall V-Bucks rewards within the game ecosystem.
The update also impacts Fortnite Crew, the game’s monthly subscription service. Subscribers currently receive 1,000 V-Bucks each month, but that amount will decrease to 800 V-Bucks once the changes take effect. Epic says affected subscribers will receive notifications explaining when the adjustment will apply in their region.
Despite the reduction in V-Bucks across purchases and rewards, Epic is keeping its Epic Rewards program active. Players who buy V-Bucks through Epic’s own payment system on PC, mobile, or web can still receive 20% back as Epic Rewards credit, which can be spent in Fortnite or across the Epic Games Store.
For players, the key takeaway is that Fortnite’s currency is becoming slightly more expensive in practice. While some passes appear cheaper at first glance, the overall system reduces the number of V-Bucks circulating through purchases, subscriptions, and in-game rewards. Starting March 19, the value you receive per purchase will simply be lower than before.
