Sony has finally announced its set of flagship devices at MWC 2018, and they are quite impressive. The Xperia XZ2 and its smaller brother, the Xperia XZ2 Compact comes with a refreshed design, upgraded hardware, better camera and so much more.
Rather than boring you with the hardware rap sheet, we’ve boiled it all down to the best and brightest features on Sony’s latest flagship, the Xperia XZ2.
Xperia XZ2 EXCLUSIVE features
1. Full-HD slow motion recording at 960 fps
Samsung Galaxy S9 is getting a competitor right away this year, as Sony has decided to bring 960 fps slow motion to the Xperia XZ2. While the older Xperia flagship devices — and the all-new Galaxy S9 and S9+ — could do the same at 720p HD resolution, Sony has upgraded it to — wait for it — 1080p Full HD resolution for better video quality.
2. Dynamic Vibration System should be awesome!
Following in the footsteps of Apple’s Taptic Engine, Sony has added a vibration motor to the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact that is smarter. The vibrations you will feel on this device will feel different based on the type of notification you receive. Sony has also included the option to change the intensity of these haptic feedbacks manually.
3D creator support for the front camera, too
Sony has quite the history when it comes to imaging technology, and they’ve brought the latest of it to the Xperia XZ2. You can now create 3D models with the front camera, too, which you were already able to use the primary camera at the back for the purpose since it was introduced with the XZ1. With better details in every shot, you can now also take 3D selfie shots.
Additional top features
Fast Wireless charging
For the first time after years of becoming an industry standard, Sony is introducing wireless charging. However, the feature is only available on the Xperia XZ2, and not the smaller XZ2 Compact. Sony has confirmed that the wireless charging technology will be based on the open standard (Qi), which will offer fast charging on supported accessories.
Dual front-facing speakers
A great feature that is yet to be embraced by all manufacturers, Sony has finally brought dual front-facing speakers to its flagship for the best possible audio experience, especially when watching videos. This is also available with the Galaxy S9, now, BTW, while HTC is a leader in this.
Hi-resolution audio
The Japanese tech company has always been in favor of high-quality audio, and you get it on the Xperia XZ2 with the internal DAC. Although the device is missing a headphone jack, features like aptX HD codec support makes up for it.
