The compact retro music player Snowsky Echo Mini is getting a major v3.0.0 firmware upgrade. The update focuses on polishing everyday usability and brings back an important feature from previous versions.

Echo Mini V.3.0.0 firmware changes are as follows:

  • Added the function of long pressing the menu button to quickly add/remove songs from the Favorites list.
  • Added support for fast-forward/rewind operations when the screen is off.
  • Renamed the original Playlist section on the home screen to Media Library.

Install the new V3.0.0 firmware update with the following steps:

  1. Download and unzip the v3.0.0 firmware package from the official Echo Mini firmware page (look for “ECHO MINI V3.0.0 firmware download”).
  2. Connect Echo Mini to a computer via USB and ensure internal storage is visible.
  3. Copy the extracted HIFIECxxx.img file to the root (top level) of the Echo Mini’s internal memory, not into a subfolder.
  4. Safely eject the device from the computer.
  5. Restart Echo Mini; the player will detect the image file and start the automatic upgrade process, which usually completes within about a minute.

This update builds on the previous changes that have slowly made the Echo Mini one of the best budget DAPs in the market. If you own one, update it today.
