Adding friends in Duet Night Abyss opens up the game’s co-op features, letting you team up for dungeon runs and commission missions. The process is simple, but there are a few key steps to follow before you can start playing with friends.
Pre-requisites to unlocking the friend system
To access the friend menu and co-op, you must first complete the following pre-requisites:
- Reach Trial Rank 19
- Finish quest "In the Depths of Winter"
- Finish quest "Dedicated Chef"
Once you've completed these, you'll also need to complete the main quest called "Black Iron and White Flower."
This quest is a milestone that unlocks several systems alongside the ability to add friends and join multiplayer commissions, including Mystic Maze (a fighting arena with rewards like Secret Letter Clues and progression currency) and Ripples of Talk (a companion interaction system). If you don’t see the Friends menu, you likely haven’t completed the pre-requisites yet.
How to add friends step by step
Step 1: Check your server
Make sure you and your friends are on the same server. Cross-server play is not supported, so coordinate with your friends to ensure you’re all on the same one.
Step 2: Find your UID
Open the game menu (usually found in the top left corner) and look for your UID (unique player ID) under your Phoxhunter name. Copy or screenshot this for easy sharing.

Step 3: Share UIDs
Send your UID to your friends. Ask them to do the same so you can add each other.
Step 4: Add and accept friend requests
Go to the Friends menu in-game, select "Add Friend," and enter your friend’s UID. Send the request. Your friend will receive a notification and can accept it from their own Friends menu.
What you can do with friends
Once you’ve added friends, you can:
- Invite them to join you in commission missions and dungeon runs.
- See other players in shared areas like the Ice Lake hub, though most story progression remains solo.
- Enjoy co-op combat, stacking crowd control and damage windows for faster runs.
Co-op is currently limited to specific dungeon and commission activities, not the entire campaign. The more friends you have in a party, the fewer AI companions you can summon. Also, you can only play with friends on the same server.
