Verizon just reduced the price of the Motorola Droid 2 android phone to $149. This results in the reduction of $50 from the previous price of $199 after rebate.

It makes sense since Motorola’s replacement for the Droid 2, the Droid 2 Global edition is coming soon and has already started making buzz in the android blogosphere. The new Droid 2 Global is rumored to have an improved 1.2 Ghz processor too as against the 1 Ghz processor in Droid 2.

The price reduction should enable the company clear the existing stocks of Droid 2 as it readies itself for the improved version of Droid 2 while giving customers a choice for the season purchase.

New Price Droid 2

Although it sounds a good deal for those who were looking to purchase the Motorola’s 3.7 inch Qwerty slider phone, we wouldn’t recommend buying it just now. Reason? Droid 2 Global edition should cost you around $200 whenever it launches and we wouldn’t value $50 more than improved hardware and/or software.

There is risk though, that Droid 2 might not be available anymore when you realize that Droid 2 Global isn’t the phone you were looking for and Droid 2 was indeed the best buy at $149. Just FYI!
