Xiaomi in preparing to release the Marshmallow update for the Mi4 soon, but till the official update starts rolling out, you can take the leap of faith in unofficial updates via custom ROMs as Mi4 CM13 is a pretty good option to get Android 6.0 update straight away.

Surprised as we are that ROMs like Mokee, crDroid and OmniROM aren’t available for Mi4, we hope they make the cut soon. For now, until MIUI Marshmallow build is released, Mi4 CyanogenMod 13 is the best Marshmallow build available for the device.

With Mi4 Marshmallow update via CM13, you get all the cool features of official Marshmallow update as seen on Nexus devices, along with the stock UI and animations and all.

It’s much different than the MIUI build, obviously, and it’s far eye-pleasing and performance boosting too. In all scenario, you should be loving it — except where the update could be broken a bit, which it could be in some areas.

The Mi4 Android 6.0 update will get you the incredible Doze mode and app control, resulting in better battery life and some visible performance increment over your current firmware.

Doze mode on Mi4 Marshmallow update makes device sleep completely while keeping only basic functions and services on, so that battery is saved to maximum.

App control lets you decide which app gets what permissions, and check out how much data an app has used. There is also Now On Tap feature added to Google Now that reads your Mi4’s screen and suggest things like movies, restaurants, etc. automatically — all done in simple long press of Home button.
