The Xperia L is one of those unlucky devices that won’t get Marshmallow update from Sony, ever. The Android 6.0 update is pretty big update, and OEMs generally consider latest and popular devices only for the update. But it’s not big worry as thanks to custom ROM developers, we have Marshmallow update available for the Xperia L.

The Xperia L Marshmallow update is available in for of many ROMs, chief among which are CM13, Resurrection Remix, AICP, etc.

We’d recommend you to install the CM13 ROM first of all, before jumping to other ROMs. The CM13 packs good deal of features and customization options, including theming, and remains stock as much as possible.

Other ROMs also include theming, and in fact, many more features and customization tweaks than CM13, but you may want to start a bit slowly into the custom ROM scene.

If you ever wish to uninstall the custom ROM, you just have to install the stock firmware from Sony back, and everything will be as Sony installs it.
