AT&T Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 started receiving the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update few days earlier through OTA update. The update brings your device to the build number KOT49H.I527UCUBNE7 and updates the Android version to 4.4.2 KitKat. This is a good news for all those proud Galaxy Mega users who have been long waiting for the KitKat update on their device and Samsung also seems to continue providing updates to older devices which is a great thing.
The latest update brings the IPv6 support to the Galaxy Mega and includes pre-loaded Beats Music for enhanced audio experience. The ISIS wallet application is also pre-loaded which allows you to carry on the NFC based mobile payments on your device. A camera shortcut is placed at the lower right corner of the lock-screen for easy access to camera without unlocking your device.
Samsung also included some other features like the Cloud printing, immersive mode, integrated cloud storage, and unified location settings. There are a lot more features that are included in the update package which redefines your Galaxy Mega performance.
The KitKat update for the AT&T Galaxy Mega is rolling out in stages and some may not receive the OTA update yet, but no need to worry as the update will reach your device with in no time. But as an eager Android user, if you want to install the update right now, the OTA file is available right now for the manual installation. Follow the below instructions to flash the OTA update on your Galaxy Mega:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Download the OTA update file which is in .CFG format.
- Install a root explorer of your choice on your device to write files to the system partition.
- Copy the downloaded CFG file to the /cache /fota directory of your system partition using a root explorer.
- Now navigate to Settings » About device » Software Update and choose to continue update.
- The device reboots once the process is completed.
That’s it, the device may take some time to boot as it builds cache for the first time. So be patient and extremely excited about the KitKat in your hands.
