Released with Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Galaxy J7 should be receiving the official Marshmallow update from Samsung later on. Right now, only Galaxy S6 (and S6 Edge and Edge Plus) and Note 5 are in line for the Android 6.0 treat, but other Samsung device, starting with Galaxy S5 and Note 4, should start seeing the day in Marshmallow, and that includes Galaxy J7 too.
That was about official Samsung Marshmallow update, but if unofficial is fine by you — it is for us, totally — then you can upgrade to Marshmallow now. Using the custom ROM called CM13 — the most popular ROM and base for countless other ROMs — you can install Marshmallow on Galaxy J7 in next 30-60 mins.
You will need TWRP recovery installed on your Galaxy J7 for this, which is used to install CM13 or any other custom ROM. For more help with installation, see the relevant section below.

Note: The ROM is under testing BTW, as many things aren’t working as they are supposed to. The calls and sms are not working either, so it is hardly suitable as daily driver.
