Download AT&T Moto X 2013 Lollipop (Android 5.1) OTA update, version 212.44.26

AT&T Moto X 2013 is now finally receiving Lollipop love after 9 months of Google’s official release. The OTA update is already on the roll as we speak and you should receive a notification for the same on your device anytime now. If not, you can just grab the OTA update zip from the download link below and manually install the update via recovery.

Below’s the official changelog from AT&T for the update:

  • Upgrade to Android 5.1 Lollipop OS (additional details available from Moto)
  • Motorola Assist updates (Meeting, driving, sleeping)
  • Motorola Migrate updates
  • NFC updates
  • Active notification updates
  • Motorola experience Touchless Control updates
  • SmartBost audio updates
  • MotoCare updates
  • Other planned fixes, updates, and enhancements

And here’s the complete software information:

  • System information: 222.26.1.ghost_att.ATT.en.US
  • Baseband version: MSM8960PRO_BP_23255.140.93.00R
  • Build number: LPA23.12-21.1

Since this is the first Lollipop update to AT&T Moto X 2013, it’s definitely going to change a lot of things. And first of all, it’ll break root access on the device. So if you’re someone who cares about root, we’d recommend you to NOT install the OTA update yet. Let people on XDA and other hacker places on the internet find a way to root this 222.26.1 Lollipop firmware first and then it’ll be safer to update.

Also, chances are that after updating to 222.26.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop you may not have any option downgrade back to KitKat (212.44.26) if need be. So just be sure of this before you go ahead and update your AT&T Moto X 2013 to Lollipop.

How to install OTA update manually
  1. Download and transfer the Android 5.1 OTA update’s .zip file from the link above to your AT&T Moto X 2013.
  2. Boot your Moto X into recovery mode:
    1. Power off your phone.
    2. Hold “Volume Down + Power” for at-least 3 seconds and then release the buttons. You’ll boot into bootloader mode.
    3. Now Use Volume down key to highlight “Recovery” on the bootloader menu, and then press Volume Up key to select and boot into recovery mode.
└ If you’re on stock recovery, you might see an Android with “no command” written on screen. Press and hold “Power button” and then hit the “Volume Up” key to see the stock Android 3e recovery.
  3. Select “apply update from sdcard” from the recovery menu. And then select the OTA update zip file that we transferred to your device earlier and flash it.
└ On stock recovery, use Volume Up and Down to navigate between options and Power button to select an option.
  4. Reboot your phone.

That’s it. You should be running the official Android 5.1 Lollipop update on your AT&T Moto X 2013 now. Must feel awesome!
