Google is now seeding a new Android Nougat version and it is available for download as a beta. The Android Nougat 7.1.2 beta has been released for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X and the Nexus Player. The Nexus 6P hasn’t received the update yet, but it will soon. Also, the factory images aren’t available for the Nexus 5X as of now.
This is the first beta for the new Nougat 7.1.2 release and it features a lot of bug fixes. Google has released a change-log, but it mostly only includes bug fixes. Those who have signed up for the Android Beta Program will receive the update over-the-air. The factory beta images are available as well, and can be flashed manually.
With the start of Android Nougat 7.1.2, the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 have reached end-of-cycle status. This means that these devices will not be getting the 7.1.2 or any other future software updates. Google will only provide security updates for these two devices.
Before installing the update, make sure you back up your device. All data will be erased and you will have to setup your device again.
