What to know
- Falling Palm and Diving Force Palm are unlocked automatically upon completing the Precipice of Truth Abyss Island puzzle.
- Before you can attempt Precipice of Truth, you must first finish the Root’s End Abyss Island puzzle.
- Root’s End is accessed from the Ethereal Pathway island, which you first reach during the main quest chain related to the Abyss and Axiom Archive.
- Once unlocked, both abilities plug into your Force Palm skill line and can be toggled in the skill tree like any other high‑level ability.
In Crimson Desert, Falling Palm and Diving Force Palm are end‑game Force Palm upgrades that let Kliff perform an aerial shockwave slam when descending from height. They are especially useful for clearing certain Abyss‑style barriers, breaking special ores, and resetting enemy positioning in combat without taking fall damage at normal dive speeds. The abilities are tied to the same Abyss Island sequence, so they unlock together once you clear the final device on Precipice of Truth.
| Ability | Situational use | How it works | Unlock trigger |
|---|---|---|---|
| Falling Palm | Ground‑based dives and Abyss puzzles | Performed while falling from a high point; press and hold Force Palm just before hitting the ground to create a shockwave. | Completing Precipice of Truth Abyss Island puzzle. |
| Diving Force Palm | Aerial‑combat dives (with Aerial Swing) | Used after an Aerial Swing to finish a looping dive with a palm‑strike impact that can stagger or break defenses. | Same as Falling Palm; both unlock after finishing Precipice of Truth. |
Path to Root’s End Abyss Island
Root’s End is the first island in the sequence that leads to Falling Palm and Diving Force Palm. To reach it, you must first navigate back to the Ethereal Pathway Abyss Island, which you originally entered during the main‑quest Abyss section starting from The Path of Providence and the Axiom Archive hub.

There you will find the altar that once held the Abyss Artifact and a bridge that now leads onward to Root’s End once earlier story progression is done.

From Ethereal Pathway, cross the new bridge and descend into Root’s End.

The island is dominated by a tall central staircase and a rotating metal grate held in the middle of the void.

Using abilities like Pillar of Wind helps you move up the staircase quickly.

And land precisely on the grate.

This is the key platform for the puzzle.
How to solve Root’s End puzzle
Step 1: Reach the central grate
Ascend the large staircase to the top of the island, then use wind‑based or glide tools to land on the rotating grate in the center. This grate has a small tunnel below; drop through it by crouching and then diving down through a series of laser traps arranged in a vertical shaft.

Step 2: Grab and move the first battery
At the bottom of the shaft you will find a rectangular battery.

Use Axiom Force to pick it up and carry it toward the nearby socket on the platform level.

Once close enough, press the Force Palm button to plug it in, which activates the next section of the device and the nearby teleporter.

Step 3: Use the teleporter and unlock the main device
Stand on the activated teleporter to be sent back up to the main platform above the grate. There you will find a second battery and the final device that needs to be powered.

Use Axiom Force again to move the last battery into the socket and plug it in with Force Palm, fully restoring the Abyss for Root’s End.

Collect the Abyss Artifact and prepare to move on to Precipice of Truth via the next‑island teleport.

Path to Precipice of Truth Abyss Island
Precipice of Truth is the second island in the sequence and the one that directly unlocks Falling Palm and Diving Force Palm once completed.

After finishing Root’s End, use the outgoing teleporter to reach the cliff‑like structure of Precipice of Truth, a narrow island with multiple fan‑driven platforms and floating barriers.
Pillar of Wind is again very helpful for quickly reaching the upper sections, and having a Kuku Pot can make the puzzle more convenient, though it is not required. The structure is split into several layers, each governed by a laser trap that must be disabled, a core that must be transported, and a barrier that must be lowered so you can reach the next battery.
How to solve Precipice of Truth puzzle
Step 1: Clear the first laser trap and lower the first barrier
Move into the first open area, locate the laser trap on the lower part of the island, and deactivate it with Axiom Force.

This generates a core that you must carry, either by hand or by storing it in a Kuku Pot if you own one.

Take the core to the nearby device to lower the first barrier.

Then grab the first battery behind the now‑open barrier and use Axiom Force to carry it to its socket.

Step 2: Plug in the first battery and use the fan
With the barrier lowered, pick up the square‑panel battery and move it toward the socket on the platform.

Plug it in using Force Palm, which activates a new fan and fan‑driven path leading upward.

Ride the fan‑driven air current to the next layer, then glide across to the small floating platform where the second laser trap is located.
Step 3: Handle the second laser and plug the second battery
On the small platform, use Axiom Force to disable the second laser trap, which creates another core. Carry that core to the device on the lower platform to lower a second barrier, then retrieve the second square‑panel battery from behind the barrier. Move the battery to its socket and use Force Palm to plug it in, activating yet another fan‑driven path that lines up with the next puzzle segment.

Step 4: Clear the third laser and final barrier
Glide along the angled fan current to reach the third portion of the island.

Jump over to an alcove where the final laser trap is hidden.

Then deactivate it with Axiom Force to create the last core.

Take that core to the furthest‑down device, which lowers the final barrier and exposes the last square‑panel battery.

Step 5: Plug the final battery and complete the Abyss
Carry the last battery to its socket and finish the connection with Force Palm, powering the final device and the last fan.

Use the last fan‑driven air current to reach the top‑level device, anchor yourself to the platform so you are not blown off.

Then press Force Palm to interact with the device and restore the Abyss for Precipice of Truth.

After the animation ends and you collect the Abyss Artifact, the game will add both Falling Palm and Diving Force Palm to your skill menu.

How to use Falling Palm in combat and exploration
Once unlocked, Falling Palm is best used when you either glide or drop from a height and sense that your fall speed will be high enough to break a normal landing. As you approach the ground, hold the Force Palm button just before impact so Kliff slams the ground with a shockwave, reducing or eliminating fall damage at normal dive speeds.

In combat, aim the fall toward clusters of enemies or heavy‑hitting foes that telegraph predictable positions. The shockwave can stagger or knock enemies off balance, making it a strong re‑entry tool after aerial dodges, glides, or high‑ground jumps. Repeated use still drains stamina, so plan your dives around nearby Spirit or stamina‑regeneration options.
How to use Diving Force Palm with Aerial Swing
Diving Force Palm is mechanically tied to the Aerial Swing ability, which lets Kliff perform a long, looping aerial maneuver. After completing the Aerial Swing arc, instead of simply landing or canceling, you can input the Force Palm command at the end of the dive to trigger Diving Force Palm.

This form of Diving Force Palm is especially useful when you want to finish an aerial combo with a heavy‑impact hit that can break guards or shields if timed correctly. Pair it with elemental imbues or weapon‑specific skills to turn a single dive into a multi‑part combo that opens enemies up for follow‑up attacks.
Rewards and benefits from unlocking these abilities
Finishing Root’s End and Precipice of Truth not only unlocks Falling Palm and Diving Force Palm but also drops Abyss Artifacts and related crafting materials that can be used for weapon upgrades or gear. The skills themselves are powerful utility‑plus‑combat tools that open up new ways to approach Abyss‑style puzzles and high‑difficulty enemy encounters.
| Unlock source | Abilities unlocked | Additional rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Root’s End Abyss Island | Access to the next‑step island (Precipice of Truth) | Abyss Artifact and assorted Abyss materials for crafting. |
| Precipice of Truth Abyss Island | Falling Palm and Diving Force Palm | Final Abyss Artifact plus additional cores and materials that can be stored in Kuku Pot–style items. |
Making the most of your new Force Palm moves
Equipping Falling Palm and Diving Force Palm into your active skill slots lets you scroll through Force Palm variants on the fly, letting you switch between grounded, focused, and aerial Force Palm styles depending on the situation. Practice them in open areas with high cliffs or Abyss‑style platforms to get comfortable with the timing of the aerial slam and the stamina cost.
Once you have both skills fully integrated into your rotation, you can start using them as combo finishers, environmental resets, and puzzle‑solving tools rather than just emergency landings. This makes them some of the most versatile Force Palm upgrades in Crimson Desert, especially when paired with Abyss‑related gear and elemental imbuements.
