Scene:
"Distortion" is the third mission in Black Ops 7 campaign. "Mason and his team locates the guild insider which triggers a powerful hallucination. Trapped in the warped reality, Mason and his team pursue a man from Mason's past."
Walkthrough

Step 1:
Mission starts in the jungles of Angola. Head straight ahead till you reach the cliff. You can use your grappler from here onwards to traverse through the area.

Step 2:
Once you reach the other end of the mountain you will encounter some guild forces alongside some ammo and armor resupply cache. Pick up the MBA1 burst DMR from the weapons cache to the left, this weapon will help you in engaging enemies from a standoff distance.

Step 3:
Clear the area of the guild forces once the enemies have been cleared you can pick up the VS Recon sniper rifle which can be found on top of one of the large white crates towards the left of the area right next to the small water stream.

Step 4:
Grapple up the waterfall and head straight ahead, you will find an ammunition crate alongside some firearms. Change your weapons accordingly and if you want to. Although it is recommended that you keep the VS recon sniper rifle. Right ahead of the weapons cache you will encounter some guild forces, here you can use your sniper rifle to take out most of the enemies from a long range. Although make sure that you are aiming for the head as it provides a one-shot kill opportunity. Once the enemies have been eliminated head straight ahead once again till you reach the cliff area, from here grapple your way onto the barge floating right in front of you.

Step 5:
You will find a container on the barge which has been blocked by giant tree vines, at this point you can not open the container in any way. Follow the vines to see where they lead. Once you cross the barge you will encounter some enemies. Again, you can either engage the enemies from a distance with your sniper or use your grapple to get close and engage them with your assault rifle. Keep following the vines and eliminate the enemies as you come across them. You will find a hut inside of which the vines have an outgrowth. Shooting those outgrowths will kill the vines. Right ahead of this small house you will see some enemy forces far away from you. This is a perfect time to take out your sniper rifle and start taking out the enemies. Push towards the direction of enemy forces and you will find a chapel like structure, head inside and pick up the self-revive kit.

Step 6:
Head towards the barge that you came from, on your way you will encounter enemy forces and a Guild VTOL, make sure you do not come into the VTOL's line of fire. Clear the enemies and get back on the barge where you will find a DAWG. Once the area and barge is secure, head in front of the container and open it. This will trigger a cutscene in which Mason will sever the cerebral link of the entire Spectre Team for 5 seconds. The team will arrive in a nightmare zone and you will be given the Damage 1 ability which amplifies the damage for weapons, equipment and Scorestreaks.

Step 7:
In this zone keep in mind that you have to avoid falling into the red water as it will deplete your health fairly quickly. Head straight ahead and use your grapple hook to traverse through the terrain wherever required. In the pit area head towards the right through a small passage on the top and you will see a pathway blocked by some vines right next to shipping container. Find the outgrowth for the vines in order to kill it and clear the passage. Once through the passage you will find the same barge as in the earlier area. Board it and you will encounter a memory of Woods, once the synopsis ends you will encounter some enemies surrounding and onboard the barge. Clear the area of enemies and use your grapple hook to get out of the area.

Step 8:
Keep following the vines, on your way you will encounter multiple ammunition and armor crates containing plethora of firearm options. The vines will lead you to a container holding Woods. Opening the container will trigger a cutscene which will end with the entrance of the nightmare boss called "The Nightmare". The boss has an impenetrable skin so shooting it anywhere else would be pointless, aim for the outgrowths to damage and weaken the boss.

Step 9:
Do not try to get close to the boss as it is protected by the same poisonous liquid that was in the area before. You will also encounter some nightmare grunts and creatures, you can either fight them or choose to ignore them by constantly changing your position and focusing on the boss. The boss has multiple ranges attacks like spraying the poisonous liquid and releasing spores that explode on contact. Best way to avoid these is just to keep changing your position. Once you have destroyed all the growths the boss' health should be down the halfway mark, here onwards you can aim for one of the three heads to further damage it. Concentrate your fire with your team on one head at a time to maximize the damage. Once all 3 heads are down the boss should be dead, triggering a cutscene which will see Woods being released from the Monsters influence and ending the nightmare. The Spectre team will return back to the world in the same container on the barge.
You will receive the 'Phantom Weapon Blueprint' as reward.

Tips
- Keep a ranged weapon with you throughout the mission, as it will also help in the bossfight, you can take out the outgrowths from a long distance.
- Check all the weapon/resupply caches that you come across as the mission has a lot of them and you can find useful items like medical stims and self-revive packs.
- Coordinate your fire with the rest of your team during the bossfight as it will help in taking down The Nightmare much quicker.
