What to know
- Anker’s 2-in-1 USB-C cable can charge two devices at once.
- With a ‘Smart Power Management’ built in, the power delivery is managed based on the device requirements, with maximum delivery up to 140W.
- The braided cable can withstand 10,000 bends and shortened to keep things tidy.
We’ve seen multi-charging cables before that work with multiple devices. But they only charge a single device at a time, which leave the other devices wanting. Plugging a glaring gap in the market, Anker has released a new double headed USB-C cable that can charge two devices at once.
Anker’s 2-in-1 USB-C cable has a single USB-C port with ‘Smart Power Management’ built in. This allows the port to distribute power depending on the requirements of the devices being charged.
When only a single device is connected, the charger delivers up to 140W of power. When two are connected, and one of them is drawing more than 100W, the maximum power drops to 130W. If the two devices don’t require those levels of power, the power is restricted to 100W. This will ensure longevity of not just the cables and the port but also the safety of your devices.
There are a few additional things to take note of, depending on the power adapter you’re using.
If you want to get the most juice out of it, you’ll most likely have to upgrade your adapter.
The 2-in-1 cable can be used for data transfer as well. However, only the device that is connected first will be able to share data, with transfer speeds limited to 480MBps, USB 2.0 speeds.
The braided cable is four feet long but can be shortened when needed to keep things neat and tidy, which is what the main purpose is here. At $25, Anker’s 2-in-1 cable management solution is ideal for those who have too many cables lying on their desks and want to be able to charge two devices at once.
