Radiation in Arcadia‑7 appears as a thick green fog along the map’s outer edges, especially in the southwest and other corners. It is lethal to enter, your character takes rapid damage and dies, and currently, no food, capsule, or suit upgrade can protect you. Even items like the “drain resistance” plant only defend against other hazards, not radiation itself.
Why you can’t enter the radiation (…yet)
The radiation zones on Arcadia‑7 act as temporary boundaries, stepping into them causes instant death, and no current gear, capsule, or item can protect you. They’re not meant to be explored early on. As you progress through the main story, the radiation is expected to shrink or disappear in parts, eventually unlocking new biomes and points of interest with gear or upgrades that let you survive. Until then, the safest strategy is simple: don’t enter.
What to do instead
Since you can’t survive the radiation, focus on surviving the rest of the planet instead:
- Stick to the safe, non‑green parts of the map and explore caves, ruins, and resource nodes there.
- Build your base in a stable area and prepare for rapture events (the star exploding and sweeping the map).
- Save often, especially before long trips, so you don’t lose progress if you die near the radiation edge.
If you really want to peek at the radiation zone, you can walk right up to its edge, see the green fog, and then back out before taking damage. This lets you scout the layout without dying, but you still can’t cross into it.
Staying Safe Around Radiation
For now, the radiation zones are untouchable, there’s no way to survive inside them. Focus on building your base, handling rapture events, and advancing the main story. As the game progresses, new gear or upgrades will eventually let you explore these areas safely. Until then, the only true survival tip is simple: avoid the green fog entirely.
