What to know

  • Fast travel works via Abyss Nexus and Abyss Cresset points
  • You must manually unlock and activate each travel point
  • Fast travel is disabled during certain gameplay states
  • Carrying a bounty target prevents teleportation entirely

In Crimson Desert, fast travel is intentionally limited, and bounty missions are one of the clearest examples of this design choice. While the game does allow teleportation across its massive world, it places strict conditions on when you can actually use it—and carrying a captured target is one of the biggest restrictions.

How fast travel actually works in Crimson Desert

Fast travel in the game is not freely available from the start—you must earn it through exploration. You need to find Abyss Nexus or Abyss Cresset points, activate them, and then use your map to teleport between them.

Even after unlocking these points, the system remains restrictive. For example, you cannot fast travel while mounted, meaning you must dismount before teleporting.

This already hints at how the game treats “active states” seriously—and carrying a bounty falls into that same category.

Why you cannot fast travel with a bounty

The game completely disables fast travel when you are transporting a captured target. This includes not only standard teleportation but even alternative methods like character-switch tricks.

If you attempt to bypass this, the option is simply unavailable. The system recognizes that you are carrying a bounty and blocks any form of teleportation.

This means every bounty mission has two phases: capture and transport. The second phase is where most of the challenge lies.

How bounty missions are designed around this restriction

Bounties are introduced early in the game and are meant to reward exploration and tactical play. You pick them up from posters, track targets across regions, and then capture them alive for rewards.

However, the real challenge begins after the capture. Since you cannot fast travel:

  • You must physically carry or transport the target
  • You need to navigate back to a turn-in location
  • You are vulnerable to attacks or interruptions

This turns what could be a simple task into a dynamic gameplay loop.
