What to know
- Mob Justice is a Terminus Range side mission given by The Boss; it unlocks after Angry Mob.
- Key objectives: take the drive, reach Lictor’s black site, “find a way in” (battery/grapple), insert the drive, halt the download, then follow Bruce to inject the virus.
- The locked door in the “find a way in” room requires a battery that you must grab under the elevator with your grapple.
- Some players hit a door/progression bug; community workarounds (reload/save-quit/fast travel) help, and a recent September patch targeted progression blockers.
Mob Justice is a complex side mission where you delve deep into enemy territory to execute a plan critical to your faction’s goals. The mission tests your combat skills, exploration mindset, and puzzle-solving under pressure.
How to start the Mob Justice mission after Angry Mob
The mission unlocks once you complete the Angry Mob side quest. Head back to The Pit in The Low Leys, and talk to the Boss’s hologram in his office. This interaction initiates the mission, and you take a drive from a console to reach Vile Lictor’s black site.

BL4 Mob Justice step-by-step guide
Below are the playable steps you will perform in order. Follow them exactly and use the quick tips where noted.
Step 1
Accept Mob Justice from The Boss in The Pit and pick up the drive from the console on the left. (Objective: Take the drive.)

Step 2
Follow the quest marker east to Vile Lictor’s black site. Fight past any patrols and drop down the shaft into the complex area (look for red lighting/vending machines). (Objective: Reach Vile Lictor’s black site.)

Step 3
Find a way in: after dropping into the room, turn around and look under the elevator — there’s a battery/device stuck to the wall/floor beneath the lift. Use your grapple to pull it up, then carry it to the green console next to the locked door and slot it in. That opens the door. (Objective: Find a way in → open door.)

Step 4
Enter the opened room, go to the marked console on the right, and insert the drive. Then interact with the computer on the left to have ECHO-4 halt the download. After the sequence, interact with the drive again to grab it back. (Objectives: Enter room → Insert drive → Have ECHO halt download → Grab drive.)

Step 5
Return to The Boss in The Pit and place the drive in the console there when prompted. After the cutscene, pick up the new virus/chip that appears. (Objectives: Return to The Boss → Place drive → Take virus.)

Step 6
Head northwest to meet Bruce (Stoneblood Forest/the bunker area shown on the map). Interact with Bruce to connect The Boss to Bruce. Bruce will create a rift — use it to travel into the facility. (Objectives: Reach Bruce → Connect The Boss to Bruce → Enter rift.)

Step 7
Fight through the guards on the other side. Follow Bruce closely (objective will read “Stick with Bruce”), clear the rooms of Vile enemies, and proceed to the lower floor console. When safe, interact to inject the virus. (Objectives: Kill guards → Stick with Bruce → Kill Vile enemies → Inject virus.)

Step 8
Return to The Boss, then take the drive again and upload The Boss into Bruce’s system by interacting with Bruce. Finally, take the mask from the case to finish the mission (“Become The Boss”). (Objectives: Return → Take the drive → Upload → Become the Boss.)

Fix: Mob Justice Find a Way in issue
There is a known issue where the locked door or other progression triggers can fail. Commonly reported symptoms: the door refuses to open, the device/battery is missing or clipped, or you crash and return to a spot with no way forward.
Try these fixes in order:
Double-check the battery spot first
Go back to the drop point and look under the elevator/floor gap; use grapple to pull the device down if you can.
Save & quit, then reload the session
Many players report that this resolves invisible-door or missing-trigger issues.
Fast-travel to another major hub/zone and then return
Use a travel terminal to respawn at a nearby checkpoint or fast travel somewhere nearby— this can force the area to reinstantiate correctly.
In case of a Crash
Exit to the desktop and relaunch the game (some players suggest a hard quit rather than just reloading). If that fails, reload an earlier save/checkpoint.
Ensure your game is fully up to date
Recent patches have targeted progression blockers, collision, and mission-stopping bugs; installing the latest update and restarting the game can fix a stuck door without further action.
If none of the above work: file an official support ticket (include platform, exact mission name, what you did before getting stuck, screenshots or video if possible) and check the latest patch notes / known-issues list — the devs have been actively rolling fixes for progression blockers since launch.
Some combat and navigation tips while doing the mission
- Clear rooms methodically — some objectives wait for enemies to die or for AI to trigger; kill all hostiles and sweep corners.
- Grapple usage is required in this mission — if you miss the battery, backtrack to the drop/ledge area and look around the walls beneath the elevator.
- If you’re low on level, set the world to easier difficulty or bring a friend: the Bruce sequence spawns waves that scale with player count.
Wrapping up Mob Justice: what to expect when you finish

You’ll finish by uploading The Boss into Bruce and taking the mask to “Become The Boss.” The mission hands out a grenade (blue→purple), XP, cash, and a cosmetic head, "Criminal Enterprise", on completion. If you encountered any door or progress bugs, follow the troubleshooting steps above before replaying — many issues have already been targeted by the post-launch patches.
