The Ironwall Resolve Bunker offers a thrilling challenge for Borderlands 4 players late in the game, tucked deep in the Terminus District. Players need to clear key quests and find corrosive canisters to gain entry. Once inside, defeating the bunker boss provides an opportunity to collect some of the game's best legendary weapons.
Where Ironwall Resolve is and when it becomes available
The Ironwall Resolve Order Bunker is found in Dominion City, specifically in the Terminus District. More precisely, it’s in the Praetor’s Lecture area.
As for availability, you must complete the Means of Ascent main mission. After that, the side mission One Gassy Issue, obtained via talking to Beth at Lakeside Properties, must be completed to unlock corrosive canisters around the city. These are required to open the bunker.
Steps to unlock the Ironwall Resolve Bunker
Unlocking the Ironwall Resolve Bunker involves several key steps due to the armored bunker door:
Step 1
Finish the Means of Ascent mission (main storyline). Without this, One Gassy Issue and other prerequisites won’t unlock.

Step 2
Go to Lakeside Properties.

And talk to Beth to start the side mission One Gassy Issue.

Step 3
Complete One Gassy Issue. This gives you access to corrosive canisters positioned around the city.
Step 4
Locate the corrosive canister nearest the Ironwall Resolve entrance.

It’s found in a pile of trash next to a building with a neon “Club” sign, near the entrance.

Step 5
Grab the canister, sprint over to the bio-armored door that’s blocking the bunker entrance, and throw the canister at it. Be quick: the canister will detonate in about 15 seconds—you need to use it before it blows up in your hands.

Once the door is destroyed by the corrosive explosion, you’re able to enter.

Walkthrough inside the bunker & boss fight
Once inside, here’s how to progress and beat the boss Directive-O:
Step 1
Immediately after entry, there’s an energy barrier ahead. On your left is a yellow powered core — shoot it to disable the barrier.

Step 2
Proceed down a corridor to the right; follow it until you find a ladder. Climb up.

Step 3
After climbing, turn around (backwards), shoot another yellow powered core. Then return to the previous corridor and take the left path.

Step 4
Use the grappling hook (if available) to cross from platforms / along walls, into an upper small room.

Step 5
There’s a third powered core in there. Take it out.

Step 6
Go back through the opening you’ve unlocked to reach the main chamber, where Directive-O awaits.

Tips for beating Directive-O
- Directive-O has a shield first. You’ll need to deplete or break its shield before you can damage its health.
- Its weak spot is the head — aiming for headshots deals more critical damage.
- Clear out the lesser enemies in the arena first to reduce incoming damage and avoid distractions.

Rewards and loot
Beating Directive-O gives a chance to get one of several Legendary Assault Rifles.
Some known legendary drops include:
| Legendary Item | Effect / Perk |
|---|---|
| Bonnie and Clyde Assault Rifle | “Pair of Thieves” perk – On kill, gives +100% damage for the gun’s other mode and refills its magazine. |
| Rowan’s Charge Assault Rifle | Grants a chance on shots to be critical hits, plus refunds ammo on critical hits. |
| Whiskey Foxtrot Assault Rifle | Secondary magazine fires in full auto under special condition. |
If you don’t get the legendary you want, you can replay the bunker using methods like Moxxi’s Big Encore at the entrance of the boss arena to farm it.
Getting into Ironwall Resolve and beating it is a rewarding side activity that ties into the story and exploration aspects of Borderlands 4. Progressing the main mission line (especially Means of Ascent), doing One Gassy Issue to unlock corrosive canisters, using one such canister to destroy the armored door, then tackling the puzzles and the boss inside gives you access to strong legendary loot. It’s a good goal once you’re far enough in the game.
