American OEM, BLU, is making its way to the east with the launch of Grand M and Grand X LTE in Japan. Both of these devices are entry-level smartphones with a basic set of specifications.
The Grand M features a bare bones 512MB of RAM, a 5-inch 480 x 854 pixels display, a moderate 2200mAh battery and a 5MP main shooter, which thankfully has auto-focus too. The device also comes with a very basic 3.15MP front facing camera, which to our surprise, is accompanied by an LED flash.
The Grand X LTE on the other hand has slightly more power with 1GB of RAM and a 5-inch 720p display and a 5MP selfie camera. The main camera and battery remain the same as the Grand M’s and both devices are powered by the Quad-core Mediatek MT6580 SoC clocked at 1.3GHz and come with 8GB of internal storage.
Both devices entered the world market in January this year but BLU has decided to ship them with Marshmallow out of the box. Not a great move, but at this performance range we don’t have a lot to complain about either.

The BLU Grand M and Grand X LTE are meant for the casual user, especially those people who are mainly looking to use a smartphone for simple tasks like calling and messaging coupled with the occasional browsing. As both these smartphones don’t burn a hole through your pocket, they can also be used for a shorter period of time, after which you can upgrade to a better device.
