Canada based smartphone and enterprise solutions manufacturer BlackBerry launched the sequel to its BlackBerry Z3 smartphone based on BB 10 OS in India. The firm has launched BlackBerry Leap that is targeted towards the young startups and entrepreneurs in the India.

The BlackBerry Leap is a mid-range smartphone and it will compete with the offerings from HTC, Samsung, OnePlus and a slew others in the market. The firm is positioning the device with its BES 12 Cloud service that is targeted at the small and medium enterprises.

The BlackBerry Leap that went official at the MWC 2015 tech show will be going on sale in the country from the next week. As of now, the firm has not revealed anything related to the price of the device in India.

When it comes to specifications, the BlackBerry Leap flaunts a 5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and it is stuffed with a 1.5 GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor teamed up with 2 GB of RAM.

The smartphone makes use of 16 GB of native storage space that can be further expanded by another 128 GB using a micro SD card. On the imaging front, the Leap features an 8 MP main snapper with LED flash and Full HD 1080p video recording and a 2 MP front facing selfie shooter with HD 720p video recording.

The BlackBerry Leap is energized by a 2,800 mAh battery that is non-removable. The firm claims that this battery can render a backup of 25 hours of backup. The device features connectivity aspects such as 4G LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Software wise, the device runs on BlackBerry 10.3.1 OS and it is teamed up with BlackBerry Blend, Assistant and Amazon App Store as well.
